Float the Columbia

Start your morning off right by floating on the Columbia River. This peaceful and scenic trip begins by launching the rafts from Moses Creek and paddling downstream from there. Enjoy an independent experience as you follow your guide down the river in your own boat.

Along the way, rafters can take in the beautiful views of the surrounding forests and mountains, and may even spot wildlife such as bald eagles. The trip ends at a designated take-out point, where the rafts are pulled from the water and the rafters are driven back to Revelstoke.

We want your float to be safe and enjoyable. While light rain is usually fine, we do avoid heading out in heavy downpours or high winds, as flatwater trips are more affected by weather than whitewater. If conditions change suddenly, Apex will contact you with updates. In the rare case that we need to cancel due to weather, a full refund will be provided.

Your Experience

Weather conditions vary from month to month however river attire generally does not. We provide you with a wetsuit, wetsuit socks, and a spray jacket. We also have fleece tops for cooler days.

For under the wetsuit: Wear a bathing suit or shorts and a t-shirt. Please try to avoid wearing cotton, as it tends to keep you cold once it gets wet.

For your feet: We supply wetsuit socks, but you need shoes to wear over them. A pair of running shoes or strap-on sandals work, but they will get wet! We have a supply of “experienced rafting footwear” on hand for guests who want to keep their shoes dry or don’t have anything appropriate.

Yes—this trip isn’t just relaxing, it’s also delicious! About halfway through, we’ll pull over for a short riverside break where you can enjoy a light snack. It’s a casual, kid-friendly stop that might include juice, pastries, and a bit of exploring along the shoreline. Keep an eye out for interesting rocks and views!

Glasses can be worn at your own risk and should be fastened with a strap. Contact lenses are very rarely a problem and are worn by many professional guides.

Parking is available nearby—small cars can use the Regent Hotel parking lot, while larger vehicles should use the city parking lot located a block south of the hotel, or nearby street parking.

Check-in location:

The Apex office is located down the hall from the Regent hotel check-in desk on the Victoria street side.

We will raft through an area that is home to many of the animals British Columbia is known for. There are a variety of animals that frequent the river valley, but there is also a lot of forest for the animals to hide in. Although we can’t guarantee you’ll see any of the larger animals that live here, it’s definitely a possibility. On the Illecillewaet River, we occasionally see black bear, moose, elk, deer, coyote, beaver, red-tailed hawk, bald eagles, river otters and many other smaller animals and waterfowl. Keep your eyes peeled!

We chose Apex rafting for a late Father’s day trip and we had a blast! This was my first time whitewater rafting and I loved it. The staff were amazing and really added to the experience. Shoutout to Jay, our guide, for showing us a great time on the river and for being so knowledgeable. Highly recommend. Plus the complimentary snacks and photos at the end were a surprise bonus :)
10/10 experience made even better by our guide Graham. He had funny stories, and made us feel totally safe. The rapids were thrilling, and the scenery was gorgeous. Highly recommend rafting with APEX. Plus, free photos at the end was a great bonus
We had a fabulous time and all the Apex Rafting team members we met were friendly and professional. A special mention should go to our guide Matthew, who kept us entertained and informed whilst simultaneously working hard to keep us safe. I didn't want it to end. Thank you all!
